Do Not Neglect the Job Interview Preparation

Imagine this, you are sitting down and across from you are 3 serious people that look like they just had a bad day. You wonder how your day can get even worst as this is your interview to a job that you want so badly.
The good news is that there are ways to prepare for a successful job interview. This is one of the toughest part after a job application. It is great to receive a phone call for an interview, but that is only just the beginning of your job application process. Some of the guidelines here are base on my personal experience. Regardless on how good you are in your previous job, or how qualified you are, you will not be selected for the job if you fail the job interview process.

The most important part is to prepare yourself. Gather the necessary information about the organization you intent to work for. You will need to do this in advance. Find out key information such as the organization accomplishment, management structure, product lines, competitions or even the company's assets base. The information is now easily available over the internet. This knowledge will give you an edge over other candidates as you have an overview on what the company does, what are their goals and so on. This will allow you to align yourself during the interview to the needs of your potential employer.

Do you know what are the requirements of the? This should be the first question you ask yourself. You can gather information from the employment notification or even the organization website. If you would like to go a step further, give the HR department a call and ask them for a detail job description. You might get an answer or not, but you have nothing to lose but everything to gain. Once you have the necessary information you can align your strengths for the job by presenting them in your resume.

Now comes the best part. Think of the questions that your potential employer might ask you. One of the most common questions is "Speak about yourself". This is when you will present your facts about personalities and qualification in a tactfully manner. You should be able to present the positive aspects of your profile in a natural manner so that it will give the interviewer a good impression on you.

Some employers might even ask the dreaded question "What are your weaknesses?". Answer this question wrongly and you might fail the job interview immediately. Everyone has a weakness as no one is perfect. You should always be careful when answering this question. The last thing you want to do is create an impression that your weakness makes you unfit for a job. You should answer in a way where by your weakness is actually your strength. One example is that you can answer that you like to do things fast and efficiently as possible and because of this many people perceive that you are in a rush. See how this so called "weakness" has worked in your favor?

The key to a successful interview is preparation. The more prepared you are the more successful you will be. Do not be afraid to ask questions as well. However make sure the questions are relevant to your job. Only with practice will you gain confidence. Best of luck in your next interview.
